Clallam County Solid Waste Management Plan Update 2019-20

Per RCW 70.95, Clallam County must have a current Solid Waste Management Plan (Plan), updated every 5 years. The last Plan was updated in 2014 and can be viewed here. The Plan addresses solid waste management throughout Clallam County, including hazardous waste management planning.  It is a joint city-county Plan for the cities of Port Angeles, Sequim and Forks and includes tribal government participation.

A solid waste management plan is the county's roadmap to managing a comprehensive solid waste system and planning for adequate services for its citizens and businesses including programming and capital facilities. This update is an opportunity to engage stakeholders to ensure that public health, economic, and environmental considerations reflect local needs and conditions, and can provide support for program development, permitting, and funding applications for solid waste and recycling projects.

The 2019-20 update process is underway, led by consultant Green Solutions. Stakeholder review of the plan update occurs at monthly Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC) meetings, which are open to the public. There are currently open positions on the SWAC.
